PE Reflection

Looking back at my goals at the beginning, I didn't really accomplish many of them, but I feel that I did improve my pronunciation a lot. In February, I wrote that I wanted to take advantage of as many opportunities to speak Japanese with native speakers as possible, and although I did go to Japanese table a few times, I didn't really go to any JSA events or do any other activities that would allow me to do this. I am happy, however, with the progress I did make. Over the course of the semester I gradually got to speak faster and more comfortably in my PEs and I was able to pay more attention to pronunciation details later on. So I am glad that I did make that progress, but I think I still would have benefited from taking more opportunities to speak with native Japanese speakers.

日本に行ったら、何したいですか

私は日本に行ったら、したいことがたくさんあります。たとえばはらじゅくとおてらでかんこうしたいです。そして、日本の食べ物を食べたいんです。けれども、書道(calligraphy)を本当にしたいです。私は小さい時、しょどうがとても美しくて面白いと思いました。だから私の美術の先生は私にちょっと書道を見せました。

それで、先生は私に書道をするの物を貸しました(lent)。私はよくれんしゅうしました。まず、中国語の書道をしました。でも後で、両親にかなの本をもらいました。それから、かなの勉強を始めました。今、もう書道をしませんが、まだとても面白いと思います。だから、日本に行ったら、書道をしたいです。

好きな季節

子供の時は、冬が私の一番好きな季節でした。今は、冬まだ好きです。とてもきれいで楽しいと思いました。そうまだおもいますけど、今本当に一番すきな季節がありません。子供の時、秋があまり好きじゃないんです（学校に行く時で、気温が下がって、雨がたくさん降るからです）。でも秋も美しいんです、そして学校はあまり悪くないんです。

春の時も、雨がたくさん降るんです。けれども花がたくさんあって、空気は匂います。子供の時、夏は一番楽しかったです。でも秋と冬と春も楽しいです。それで、一番好きな季節がありませんが、本当に嫌い季節もありません。じゃあ、＿さんは？好きな季節は何ですか。

春休み

私の春休みはとても楽しかったです。土曜日から火曜日までプリンストンにいて、宿題をして、ゆっくりしました。でも、水曜日は、プリンストンのシンポーグループとバージニアビーチに行きました。そこでブレックダンスをしたり、ゆっくりしたりしました。そして、小学で踊りを教えました。それから、ホテルで映画をたくそん見たり食べ物をたくさん食べたりしました。帰る時、車を乗ったんです。バージニアビーチからプリンストンまで6時間ぐらいかかりますけど、とても楽しかったです。友達がたくさんあって、歌をたくさんうたいましたからです。あっ、ほとんど忘れました：ミュージックビデオもしました！

PE Midterm Reflection

Half of the semester is over now, so I'd like to reflect on how my PE activities and goals have gone so far.

The activities themselves have gone pretty well overall, I think. I did two Kizuna recordings, a song, and a prosody listening exercise. I think that maybe sometime this semester I would like to try recording a conversation or doing an anime shadowing exercise to work on some faster paced speech. The recordings that I did do really helped me though in working on some smaller details of pronunciation by letting me listen to myself and try to get rhythms and pitches perfect (since they were poems/lyrics). I also got to memorize some Japanese poetry, which was nice (even though I might not remember it).

At the beginning of semester, I said that I would try to go to language tables and JSA events. I started to do the former a couple weeks before the midterm, and it was really good practice, especially the Forbes table. I will try to continue doing this on a more regular basis this quarter. I haven't actually gone to any JSA events yet though, so I still would like to work on that. I will try to contact my friends who are members to get more information on when they have events.

Practicing speaking both in class and outside has been really beneficial for my speaking skills, and getting to know the different people and resources around who/that can help me practice has helped as well. I'd still like to keep working on it, but I do feel happy with what I've been able to accomplish so far.

私の家族

私の家族は四人家族です。父と母と妹と私です。
この写真はちょっと古いですが、みなさんがいます。青いシャツをきているひとは父です。

父は面白くてシアターが上手な人です。それから、モノポリーも上手です。
父はモノポリーを遊んでいます（上）。父はシアターをしています（下の写真の赤いパンツをはいている人）。

父の前にいて、かみがみじかい女の人は母です。母は高校に勤めて、いつもちょっと忙しいです。踊るのがとても好きで料理がとても上手です。

母と一緒に踊るの友達です（母は一番右です）。

黒いドレスをはいている人は妹です（一番上の写真）。名前はミアで、今、十七さいで、高校の三年生です。ミアは明るくて背がしょっとみじかい人です。そして、歌を歌うのが好きで、絵を書くのもとても上手です。

妹もシアターをするのが好きです（真ん中の人です）。

私の家族は インディアナポリスに住んでいます。私の祖母とおばさんもインディアナポリスに住んでいます（父の家族です）。母の家族はミシガンとシカゴに住んでいます。私の家族はちょっと静かですが、親切です。

冬の休み

私のてすとは早く終わるので、休みとても長かった。とてもよかったです。よくゆっくりしましたが、日本語 の勉強を少ししました。

大雪なので、どこにも行きませんでした。寮で友達とよく映画を見ました。それから、外で遊びました（ウイトマンでスレッどをするのがとても楽しかったです）。

そして、ウインターセッションのクラスを教えました。私と私の学生はそれを楽しみました。今、休みは終わりましたが、あたらしい学期を楽しみにします！
